Airbnb is to raise the price range for its IPO to seek a valuation of up to $42 billion when it lists on Thursday, up from a previous target of $34.8 billion.
Co. is aiming to sell 51.9 million shares at between $56 and $60 each, which would raise as much as $3.1 billion in one of the biggest IPOs of the year. Previous price range was $44 - $50, which it earmarked in a filing last week.
The new price range means that Airbnb would be worth as much as $42 billion fully diluted, which is where share options and other executive stock awards form part of the valuation.
Airbnb was forced into an emergency $2 billion fundraising at the onset of the pandemic. It also cut 1,800 employees, a quarter of its workforce, and cut expenses as demand for global travel collapsed. -
