There’s a lot to like about the Galaxy Note 10 but there are also serious concerns, some of which have already been confirmed. And now Samsung fans may have a better option.
Leaking much earlier than usual, are the first details for the Galaxy S11. Predictably, they come from popular Samsung insider Ice Universe who reveals the Galaxy S11 won’t just be an incremental upgrade, it will mark the dawn of a new era in Samsung technology.
Breaking it down, Ice confirms while the Galaxy Note 10 will stick with the same primary camera as the Galaxy S10 (with a slight twist), it will be the final outing for the S5K2L4 (12MP 1/2.55" 1.4μm) sensor inside it. This is brilliant news because, despite adding a dual aperture lens on top of it in recent years, that sensor has been around since the 2016 Galaxy S7.
Such complacency has seen Samsung slip from smartphone camera king to also-ran behind the likes of Apple, Google and Huawei, but Ice states that the Galaxy S11 camera will be entirely new. He goes so far as to call it “a new beginning”.
Further details on the Galaxy S11 remain light at this stage, but what Samsung’s controversial decisions with the Galaxy Note 10 have already made clear is that there will soon be very little to separate the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note ranges other than the S Pen. Given the recent admission from Samsung engineers that the S Pen badly impacts advancement of the Note range, there are also questions being asked about the Note’s future as well.
Throw in the fact that the Galaxy S11 will deliver next-generation hardware and (almost certainly) 5G by default and Galaxy Note fans disaffected by the Note 10’s surprising feature cuts may be wise to wait. After all, we know Samsung is already focused on making more creative smartphones from now on.
