DisplaySearch Report Reveals LCD Component Shortages

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 2000--DisplaySearch, the
worldwide leader in FPD market research and consulting, has issued a
new report which covers the supply/demand situation of critical LCD
materials called the "Quarterly LCD Component Report."
With materials accounting for more than 50% of total display costs
and LCD manufacturers spending at record levels in response to strong
demand, the availability of LCD materials is critical. With as few as
2 materials suppliers in a specific segment serving more than 20 TFT
LCD suppliers, the lack of investment by LCD materials suppliers can
dramatically impact the growth of the TFT LCD market and its related
applications. Shortages in LCD materials can result in reduced unit
production, market penetration and factory utilization and can delay
capital spending.
