Moody's reitinguagentuur tõstis 8 Euroopa Liidu kandidaatriigi välisvaluutas võetava krediidireitingut 2-3 astme võrra.
Eesti Vabariigi reitingut tõsteti tasemelt Baa1 uuele tasemele A1.
Sloveenia: Aa3, tõstetud 2 astet (A2)
Eesti: A1, 3 astet (Baa1)
Tsehhi: A1, 3 astet (Baa1)
Ungari: A1, 2 astet (A3)
Poola: A2, 2 astet (Baa1)
Läti: A2, 3 astet (Baa2)
Slovakkia: A3, 3 astet (Baa3)
Leedu: Baa1, 3 astet (Ba1) -

MOODY'S PLACES DEPOSIT RATINGS OF THREE ESTONIAN BANKS ON REVIEW FOR POSSIBLE UPGRADE FOLLOWING UPWARD REVISION OF FOREIGN CURRENCY COUNTRY CEILING; ALL FINANCIAL STRENGTH RATINGS ARE CONFIRMED
Moody's today placed the deposit ratings of three Estonian banks on review for possible upgrade. The financial strength ratings of the banks are confirmed as are the existing outlook on these ratings. The action follows the upward revision of the foreign currency ceiling of those countries slated for entry to the European Union in 2004; among which is Estonia.
Moody's commented that the deposit ratings placed on review had all hitherto been capped by the existing foreign currency ceiling and that the reviews would examine the case for any further upward movement in ratings. Key to Moody's considerations would be the extent and support of the banks' owners (large Nordic banks).
The following banks deposit ratings have been placed on review for possible upgrade :
Eesti Uhispank : Baa1/P-2/C- (FSR on positive outlook)
Sampo Pank : Baa1/P-2/D (Deposit ratings stable / FSR on positive outlook)
The deposit and debt ratings of Hansapank also have been placed on review for possible upgrade. The debt ratings of the bank had pierced the Baa1 country ceiling for foreign currency denominated debt reflecting the banks position as a majority owned subsidiary of Sweden's Swedbank (rated Aa3/P-1).

EL kandidaatriikide reitingute taoline ühe ropsuga tõstmine on muljetavaldav küll, aga tekitab küsimuse et miks seda järk-järgult ei tehtud. Mõnda neist reitingutest muutis Moody's viimati vist 7 aastat tagasi. Natuke naljakas on ka see, et Sloveenial on nüüd eurotsooni liikmest Kreekast kõrgem reiting (muidugi on vinge, et Eestil on Kreekaga võrdne A1 nüüd :)).

Kusjuures kui ei eksi, siis Sloveenial on USA-ga viisavabadus, Kreeka osas nii kindel ei ole.
