  • Erinevalt teistest keskpankadest kipub Euroopa Keskpanga puhul üllatusmoment olema tagasihoidlikum, mille puhul ei saa ka välistada, et tegemist on tahtliku investorite ootuste testimisega. Nimelt lekkis eile erinevatele meediaagentuuridele info, et Euroopa Keskpank kavatseb täna avalikustada plaani soetada valitsuste võlakirju vähemalt ühe aasta jooksul mahus 50 miljardit eurot kuus, mis teeks kogusummaks 600 miljardit eurot. Samas on võimalik, et programm kujuneb pikemaks ning see on ilmselt üks detailidest, millele täna tähelepanu pööratakse.

    Tingituna lahtistest otsadest, reaktsioon aktsiaturgudel kuigi dramaatiliseks ei kujunenud, osalt ka seetõttu, et Euroopas on uudise ootuses juba arvestatav samm ülespoole liigutud. Stoxx 600 sulgus 0,6% kõrgemal, Ühendriikides aga lõpetas S&P 500 0,5% plussis.

    Majandusuudiste tasandil üllatas Suurbritannia tööturg oodatust suurema töötu abiraha taotluste langusega novembris (-25 tuhande asemel -29,7 tuhat), mis aitas viia töötuse määra 0,2 protsendipunkti allapoole 5,8% peale ehk madalaimale tasemele alates 2008.a augustist.

    Ühendriikides selgus, et detsembris alustatud elamuehituste arv hüppas annualiseeritud kujul 4,4% 1,089 miljonini, ületades analüütikute 1,04 miljoni suurust ootust. Lisaks revideeriti kõrgemaks nii novembri(1,028mln pealt 1,043mln peale) kui ka oktoobri näitajaid (1,092mln pealt 1,045 miljonile), mis tegi sellest parima kvartali alates 2007.a neljandast kvartalist, toetades majandust ja muutes analüütikud trendi jätkumise osas optimistlikuks.

    Tänase börsipäeva põhifookus langeb Euroopa Keskpangale, kes avalikustab 14.45 intressimäärade otsuse ning 45 minutit hiljem räägib Mario Draghi kas lisaks sellele langetati veel mõni täiendav otsus. Ühendriikides avalikustatakse möödunud nädala töötu abiraha taotlused ning Kansas City FEDi töötleva tööstuse küsitluse tulemused.

  • Bloomberg: Uber Raises $1.6 Billion in Convertible Debt to Expand

    Uber Technologies Inc. raised $1.6 billion in convertible debt from Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS)’s wealth management clients, according to people with knowledge of the matter, as the mobile car-booking company builds its finances to expand internationally.

    Uber is also still in talks to raise $600 million from hedge funds and international strategic investors to add to $1.2 billion in financing that it raised in December, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the information isn’t public. The funding last month valued San Francisco-based Uber at $40 billion, one of the highest valuations for a closely held technology startup.
